Video&Sound Collage Crit Comparison

By the use of shape, form, color and space I was hoping to convey a sense of panic to my audience. The eccentric shapes were  placed and composed in such a rhythm throughout the piece that dictated the level of urgency I wanted the viewer to feel. If I could compare the sense of urgency and panic in my video to another classmate's, I would chose Tatianna's.  Unlike most student's, she chose to keep her theme on a calmer note and had a very soothing vibe to her video. Her video begins with soothing sounds of water and various shapes with images of flowers and a child splashing in a puddle. Knowing Tatianna's love for the water and her past of being a swimmer, its easy to see where her inspiration cam from. I'd say they main part of her video, or the climax, happens at 19 seconds where she has a series or circles and squares and other images pop up and rotate in a harmonious circle. The video tappers out after these shapes are done rotating
Our videos were similar in ways of color, shape, use of sound, and unity. We both decides to use a full spectrum of colors. While we used the colors in different ways in Photoshop, I think we both thought that various colors would make it seem more interesting and aesthetically pleasing. Another obviously similar aspect of our videos was the use of shape. Tatianna had some other images mixed in, but the majority of what she used were shapes made in Photoshop. The simplistic shapes lead to a sense of narrative in both the pieces and combined with the use of sound, create a large sense of unity. Both our videos try to match up the sounds with our images. Tatianna matches a 'pop' sound up with her shapes appearing and I attempted to line up the clicking pen with the zig zag line in the middle of the video.
Our videos differ in uses of rhythm, movement, and overall vibe. As I mentioned before, There is nothing similar about the way we used rhythm. Tatianna has a very soothing water theme. My video has some quiet parts, however most sounds and movements created were meant to convey a jarring, fast paced, anxious tempo.
